Macross Froniter The Movie: The Wings of Goodbye - Anime Review

As I’m a fan of the Macross franchise, I unfortunately thought that the previous Macross Froniter movie was better than this one. I thought that the solo Ranka and Sheryl concert scenes were the highlight for me of this movie. I thought that the runtime of one hour and fifty-four minutes was about the right time, to get through this movie. What I liked about this movie were the cameos of Black Jack and Melmo from Marvelous Melmo cameo in the background near the start of this movie. This movie has the typical elements that makes Macross Macross, such as love triangle, music, and itano circus missile fire. I thought that the firebomber references at SMS concert scene to break Sheryl Nome out of girl was cringe worthy, as IMO this movie had too many scenes where characters of this movie avoid death/ serious injury but are alive, for the plot’s sake. I thought that the best character behind Sheryl was Ozama Lee. IMO this movie hasn’t aged well, but I thought lolita Alto was one of the better ideas from the production team. Overall, I really didn’t like this Macross movie mainly due to the characters in this movie avoiding death/serious injury too many time and are alive to push the plot of this movie along. I thought that the illustrations in the ending credits of this movie were good IMO, and well worth your time IMO.
