Ghost in the Shell Arise - Anime Review

As I’m a fan of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, I thought that I would review this four-episode OVA series. Each OVA episode runs between fifty minutes and one hour long. The first OVA episode introduces Motoko to the viewer. There is a bit of fanservice in this OVA episode, as there’s a shower scene, and the Major running around in her underwear. The second OVA episode has the Motoko fighting Batou three times, in this episode. This episode also deals with Motoko forming her team. The third OVA episode shows Motoko in a straight sexual relationship, which may or may not get fans of this franchise upset or not. The fourth and final OVA episode has Motoko deal with an individual named Fire Starter. I thought that the variant of the classic scene of Motoko jumping off a building and using optical camouflage was a great sequence IMO, in this final OVA episode. I thought that the background music IMO for this OVA series wasn’t as good as GIST SAC, with Yoko Kanno doing a terrific job in that installment of Ghost in the Shell franchise. I thought that the animation in this OVA series was flawless, and seeing a young section nine cast was interesting IMO, as this installment of Ghost in the Shell does its own thing. Overall, I thought this OVA series was interesting, and despite some small issues I had with this OVA series, I thought that it was solid, overall.
