Macross Frontier: The False Songstress - Movie One - Anime Review

As I’m a big Macross fan, I thought that this was solid overall. I thought that this two-hour movie flew by me. I thought that the 3DCG of the Valkyrie’s, Vajra and backgrounds, were excellent. This movie does contain fan-service of Sheryl, Ranka, Grace and Alto. I thought that the opening concert scene with Sheryl Nome was fresh, unique and a feast for the eyes, ears and senses. As the original Macross series didn’t have a mascot in it, the moment I saw Ai-kun on the TV screen, I knew that this green creature, is the token animal mascot for this installment of Macross. I thought that the itano circus of the missile fire in this movie, was great. The element of this movie that I didn’t like in this movie were the lack of sustained character death tension, of characters in this movie. As I was watching this movie, I felt that the three main leads of this movie had plot armor, that they wouldn’t die, and/or made IMO this movie a little mundane/boring. I did think that the new songs written for this movie were excellent and were bangers IMO. Overall, I thought that this movie was solid, and Macross Frontier refreshed the Macross franchise from going stale.
