Macross Frontier The Movie: The Wings of Goodbye - Movie Two - Anime Review
As I’m a big fan of the original Macross TV series, I thought that this conclusion to the Macross Frontier series/movies/franchise was very weak. I thought that the runtime of one hundred and fifth teen minutes, were mostly a waste of my time. I thought that the scenes of Alto piloting a Valkyrie, and Sheryl and Ranka singing in the background, has been done to death, IMO of the Macross Frontier franchise. I thought that the Ranka concert scene, were the best part of this movie, IMO. In this movie there is a scene where Alto is acting as Sherly’s bodyguard, and there’s monitors in the background, and on the monitors in the background for a small period of time are the anime Tezuka characters Black Jack and Marvelous Melmo. I thought that the prison concert scene was bad, as there’s plot armor of the cast not dying, and there’s no constant fear/sustained threat that a character could die in any second. I will admit that Yoko Kanno created more banger songs for this movie. I thought that Ozama Lee were the second-best character from this installment of Macross. I thought that Sheryl Nome is the best character from this installment of Macross, bye a country mile. Overall, IMO this movie hasn’t aged well, as the production values of this movie are poor, despite the animation and music being of an excellent standard. I thought that the ending credits of this movie were excellent, and that the ship of Alto x Sheryl was canon.
