Escaflowne: The Movie - Anime Review
As I’m a big fan of the Escaflowne anime franchise, I thought that I would review the Escaflowne movie, from 2000. This movie runtime is about ninety minutes long and is animated by studio Bones. The production of this movie was done by studio Sunrise. This movie is a retelling of the twenty-six-episode TV series. I thought that this movie’s direction was solid, with Akane Kazuki at the helm. I thought that this movies soundtrack enhanced the animation scenes, in this movie. The music was in charge by Yoko Kanno and Hajime Mizoguchi. I thought that the action scenes in this movie were short and bloody, IMO. As the Escaflowne TV series had pointy noses on the cast of characters, this movie fixes this issue from the TV series counterpart. Also, I thought that this movie ending scene got the ending perfect, which the Escaflowne TV series didn’t stick it’s landing IMO. I thought that this movie dark version/setting was IMO an interesting way to condense the twenty-six-episode TV anime series, into a movie format. As this movie has a short runtime IMO, not every character featured in this movie gets character development. Overall, I thought that this movie was a solid movie, and I can’t wait to rewatch the Escaflowne TV series, in the near future.
